For once, rather than calling out POOR practice, we’ve decided to shine a light on GREAT practice, by inviting people (adult social care council staff, advocates, care providers, people who receive services or their families, care staff or PAs) to send us their examples of the BEST in the business – in four categories of document or link.
We want to celebrate evidence of Care Act compliance, well-structured documents, informative website pages, or clear care and support policies!
So here goes: from now on, in the run-up to CASCAIDr’s Annual Walk for access to justice, (13 June) we want you to send us any of the following that you think are SHINING examples of what the Care Act promised (email them to aidanmiller@cascaidr.org.uk heading the email ‘Best Practice Competition’ please…)
a) Assessment of Needs/Eligibility Decision documentation – this could be the actual form, or the information in advance that one is supposed to get
b) Information for Carers – as to their rights under the Care Act to support services or a budget in their own right
c) Care Plan documentation – focusing on the structure of it and whether it does what s25 and s26 say it should do!
d) Direct Payment Information Policies or website pages – (saying what you think is so particularly good or helpful about them please)
e) Disability Related Expenditure policies or website pages (saying what you think is so particularly good or helpful about them please)
If we get more than 5 examples in any of these categories, we’ll announce the winners on the day of the Walk, and confer a ‘Collaborating With CASCAIDr’ award.
Needless to say we’re not asking for people’s completed assessments or care plans for a) or b) or c). We want the bare bones, please – the documents or forms themselves.
