Tower Hamlets London Borough Council, ex parte Khatun [1994] 27 HLR 465 (CA)

Interview – conduct – assessment

This case involved the manner in which an interview to determine eligibility for housing was conducted. The court ruled that it was for the local authority and not the courts to determine how the necessary inquiries are made. The court should only intervene if it appeared that by reason of the style of questioning the applicant was prevented from developing his case or prevented from putting forward relevant facts in aid of his application.
