If I have been ‘medically retired’ but am not at retirement age yet, will my Local Authority treat me as me being of working age or retired when calculating my care charges?

What they treat you as makes no difference: they will look at your pension pot if you have taken the pension early on account of illness, or your capital and savings, and simply apply the charging rules. There is discretion to ignore money in extenuating circumstances, but a person’s age or their working status is not relevant as far as we are aware, for social care charges.
